Falling Forward

{photos by my dad!}
Cougar Boots recently sent over a pair of their limited edition Pillow boots, a re-release updated from the original created in 1976, for review & styling. While I'll be the first to admit that they aren't the most feminine pair of shoes to ever enter my wardrobe, they are significantly better looking than many snow-appropriate styles (and oh so cozy!). I've also always had cold extremities in the winter even when wearing two pairs of fuzzy socks and lined leather boots. Since these Italian made, Canadian classics are waterproof and said to withstand up to a chilly -24 degrees Celsius (that's -11F), I for one am thrilled that I'll get to experience my first winter in recent years where I won't have my toes frozen off!

p.s. Loved reading your responses re: blogging & shopping here. Glad to hear that so many of us feel the same way!

Wearing: Cougar Pillow boots (c/o), Zara scarf (similar) and skirt (similar), Kensie top, Joe Fresh jewelry and gloves from local boutique

  1. Luv the outfit, especially the gloves and sweater! I agree, these boots are more suited to extreme winter temperature (puffed parka & toque?)

    LOVE how you wore them Jen, I totally considered wearing them with black tights too. I'll have to give it a try when the temperature cools down (didn't it feel weird putting on winter boots in 25 degree weather?) I'm really impressed with them though, I think they'll be so great in the winter!!!

  6. wow nice autumn wear! this could def transition into winter (alongside, a good attitude to battle the cold in a skirt). lovely boots! and what a great pop of pattern with the leopard scarf. I could've used a fine pair like those when I used to live Boston...

  14. You never disappoint, Jen! You're the only person I know (and possibly on earth) who could make a pair of boots like these look truly sophisticated. I love the pulled together fall basics you've paired them with, and your leopard scarf is just perfect! I can't wait until the temperature is really right for fall looks like this!

I am a major fan of being warm & dry though, it makes such a difference during our brutal Canadian winters! Love how you styled them - the leopard scarf is adorable, and hooray for being skirt twins!! :)

  18. Such a beautiful look Jen! I love the natural tones of this look and how you styled the shoes with femme pieces. They aren't exactly super feminine themselves but they'll come in so handy over the winter that's for sure. Hope you're having a great week so far love :)

    Agreed - these are totally not delicate/feminine boots, but you've styled them really well! your outfit is worthy of being in the cougar boots pillow boots lookbook!
