Canary

by Jen on Monday, May 21, 2012

Confession: I'm not very adventurous with nail colour. I tend to stick to reds, nudes & darks because I fear that other colours can easily result in a tacky look. Inspired by all the summery colours (and free manicure bar) at last week's Joe Fresh event, however, I decided to take a risk and replace the classic red I had on for a fun yellow. It was a risk well taken, as it quickly became my favourite part of this outfit: the bright Canary hue not only provided a fun, quirky pop to a black and white canvas, but had the effect of making me feel instantly happier.

Wearing: YesStyle blazer (c/o), Ministry of Retail blouse (c/o), 7 For All Mankind pants, Bally bag (vintage), Zara shoes, House of Harlow sunnies, BCBGMAXAZRIA ring & necklace, Joe Fresh Canary nails

I'm like you in that I always stick to nude or light pink nail polish because it tends to look good with everything. Your yellow polish look fabulous with your outfit. You are motivating me to be a bit more adventurous with my nails!

I know just what you mean about colours, Jen - there is something about black, white and gray that makes me feel much more fashionably secure :) But a little pop of colour within a neutral ensemble is something that can never go wrong, and your bright nails are a perfect example of that. I hope you're having a lovely long weekend, in spite of the rain!

I love this outfit so much! Adore the way the pants look on you! I used to shy away from bright nail polish to avoid any possibility of a faux pas but you only live once!

I'm the same with my nails...very classic, usually. I just ventured out of my comfort zone for a bright robin's egg blue and I love it!

Also loving this outfit on you!!

The yellow nails complement your outfit perfectly, especially your sunglasses! And your peplum top has got to be one of the best ones I've seen.
