A warm knit sweater & cotton shirt on top and breezy summer shorts down below: something about that just doesn't add up, eh? It started off as a cooler day and I reasoned myself into wearing these shorts by convincing my brain that my legs never get cold-- only my upper body does. Luckily it turned out to be a pretty warm day so I never had to test that theory. To tell you the truth, though, I don't really care how the weather is most days when it comes to dressing (aside from rain)-- typically I just generalize into which season we should be in and dress accordingly. And whether or not this outfit actually made sense was no matter- it's just what I wanted to wear together. I can hear my mom's scolding already!

Before I started reading your blog, I totally hated leopard printed stuff! Now I already have 3 such blouses and 2 dresses in my wardrobe :))
P.S. With this post I think you have some new material for those pieces where you compare the same blouse/ dress/ skirt worn differently, right? :) Because as far as I remember you have another lovely older post with this sweater :)

Love the topshop shorts (at first I thought it was the F21 scalloped skirt). You really are the queen of leopard prints, it looks so effortless when you wear it!

The shorts are so darling! I think in Vancouver, we all have to deal with bipolar weather, I mean, I'm wearing a dress and a massive sweater... with sandals? Really makes no sense, but whatever. ;)!

Weather is a HUGE factor for me when I get dressed. I get sick easily, plus I'm kind of a baby about being too cold or too hot. :P

I wish I could be like you... weather totally affects my outfits everyday. Plus with this weird cloudy/sunny, hot/cold thing we've got going on, I never know what to do! I always err on the side of more clothes and then end up boiling! Love those Top Shop shorts; I'm so excited to go there when I fly to London in 2 weeks!

Aw, the shorts & the sweater are SO CUTE! Love the leopard and the coral together! I always wondered what kind of climate girls can wear bare legs & sweaters/coats in... it never made sense to me, even though it always LOOKS adorable. My legs would be freezing, or the sweater would be too warm! But I love the look, so preppy & cute!

When it comes to getting dressed, my only philosophy is to be impractical :) I admit, I've even worn open-toed shoes in the rain before- my desire to put together an outfit that feels good on a given day totally trumps any other factors. I love the look you came up with, particularly the Zara sweater- I actually tried to convince myself I could just suffer with the hives my wool allergy would bring if I bought it, but in the end I had to resign myself and leave it at the store. I love the way it looks on your, though, especially tucked into those adorable shorts :)

Weather actually plays a HUGE role in the way I dress. Especially because in Detroit (like in Vancouver, I assume), the weather can change in a snap, hot and humid one moment, and totally raining and cold the next.
This morning I had cute jeggings and strappy heels planned, but then a torrential down pour started, so I put on ugly round-toe boots by Blow Fish, and now I feel like a frump machine.
I hope you were far away and safe from those riots downtown! My best friend lives downtown... I was scared for her life. And my cousins, too. EEPS.

I check the weather first thing every morning. I get cold easily so i guess dressing for the weather is important for me. Leopard and orange is so unexpected but somehow you made it work.

Love those bright shorts, the scalloped detailing is perfection. You look perfectly dressed for the weather - I'm the same way though, no matter what Vancouver has up its sleeve I want to dress for what season I feel like!

Love this outfit Jen! I absolutely love the mix of shorts + sweaters together. I'm actually going to pull together a sweater + skirt tomorrow haha. You can never trust the weather so keeping a sweater with you will never do you wrong.

I've become obsessed with checking the weather before planning outfits, but if there's even a hint of sun and warm temps, I'll throw on a skirt or shorts. The "my legs never get cold" theory does work out for the most part!

I love me a red short with some animal print! you look great. I try to consider the weather but in the end I like to convince myself that it is never to hot for a jacket or little sweater. So by default I assume it is Fall all year round ha ha!
