Maxi Time

by Jen on Monday, June 10, 2013

Standing at a mere 5'3, it's always been difficult to find a maxi dress to wear with flats (without it doubling as cleaning cloth for the floor). That's why coming across this beauty recently was like striking gold: it hits right at the ankle on my frame, which is ideal for sandals, but still looks great dressed up with heels. It also happens to have the most beautiful neckline and flows gorgeously in the wind. I've easilyworn it four times in the past two weeks, and will definitely be living in it all summer long. Wearing: Loft 82 maxi dress, Maje belt, MICHAEL Michael Kors bag and sunglasses, Jeweliq necklace, worn as bracelet (c/o), Coach sandals, Revlon lip butter (in Tutti Frutti, a current favourite!)

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, at 5'll, all maxi dresses tend to be too short for me!! We can't win, 'eh? Except you did, with this one!! Looks beautiful and I REALLY love the belt you paired it with - stunning!

I've been skeptical about wearing a maxi dress because I too am on the short side. Then I realized maxis look great no matter what your height is, the trick is finding one that fits well. Luckily you did. This dress is stunning and looks wonderful on you.

Looks great on you! I find it hard to get maxis that are the perfect length too! Also tutti frutti is one of my faves as well!

Oh I absolutely love maxi dresses that fit. I'm 5'0" and I have the toughest time looking for some that fit length-wise.

This maxi is gorgeous on you, Jen! It's so hard to find the right length maxi, no matter what your height! And I just love that lip color on you, I will definitely have to try it! xo!

wow, what a great maxi dress! I love how versatile that blue is—you could seriously dress it up or down with whatever color accessory you want. I love the gold and bright tangerine combination you've got going on :)

I totally agree - the few maxi dresses I own I have to wear them with wedges because they are too long. But when I find a maxi dress I like and I can wear with flats I'm buying like 5! (ok, maybe not 5..)
Lovely look Jenn. I love the belt and clutch with it! xo

Most Maxis are way too long on me too, even at 5'4"! I love the look of maxis though, as I feel it elongates the body. Love the one you're wearing! I love that it has slits in the skirt - it's kind of sexy!

I personally don't own a maxi dress (I'm 5'4" too) but looking at how well you wear yours definitely makes me want to buy one! It's lovely!

I love love LOVE maxi dresses! On us petite girls, it can give the illusion of having long legs. The only downside is that it can get quite difficult to wear it differently so that others don't notice you've worn it a few times that week!

I just had to pin all of these pictures to my pinterest boards for "Effortless Glamour." I would wear every single item you posted here. This is my idea of a perfect maxi ensemble.

"Long maxi, gorgeous sunnies, sexy belt, chic sandals and a pop of color... Everything about this outfit by @Jen Tam is really effortless glam. Jen Tam knocks it out of the park with this perfect black maxi ensemble. Details here: www.herwaisechoic..."
